Caring For A Dog Doesn't Have To Be A Hard Job.

By Lisa Griffiths

Have you thought that caring for a dog might be too much to handle? It isn't if you keep a few things in mind:

You are the top dog, You are in charge, You are the alpha dog, You are the top dog.

I think you get the picture. Fido must not end up controlling your behavior, so don't give up your status.

Dogs need to know their specific place in your relationship, but you don't have to be a cruel leader in order to get this accomplished. By leading with a kind, but firm hand you will see to this end.

You may be wondering what all this means?

It is simply a matter of taking charge of all aspects of Fido's behavior. There are the feeding patterns, toilet habits, and socialization to name just a few.

Let's look briefly at these areas.

In order to see that Fido is at optimal health and fitness, you must control his eating patterns. Feeding him at the same time everyday is a must for him to learn proper habits and limit begging between meals.

He will learn that she must eat at the designated time or He will have to wait and go hungry.

However, an important thing to remember is to read the labels and insure you're giving her the best food possible.

Concerning toilet habits, it is a good idea to take him for a walk or let him outside at the same time everyday. By doing so, your favorite furry friend will learn that out of doors is the only way to 'go'.

Teaching successful socialization will bring happiness to the relationship between you and Fido. When he learns to get along with others, meaning not only people, but other pets too, you will realize a great joy and all that come into contact with him will have pleasure as well.

In caring for a dog, consistency is key. Fido wants us to guide him and when we maintain the top dog position in this social order we will enjoy our relationship so much more.
