By Juliette Crane

The best homemade dog biscuits are not those found in your supermarket, or even the pet store. Some of them may have the word "homemade" to entice you, but of course, homemade dog biscuits can really only be made in one place - in your home! And the best part is that they are pretty easy to make too. Here are some excellent dog food recipes you can try at home today.

Do you know that dogs just absolutely love the taste of sweet peanut butter treats? It?s not that difficult. Simply combine 1 ? cup of all purpose flour with 1 ? cup whole wheat flour. In a separate bowl, mix together 1 cup milk, 2 Tbsp honey, 2 Tbsp oil with ? cup of creamy peanut butter. Fold in the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. When the batter is blended well enough, take spoonfuls of this and lay it on a cookie sheet. Bake these treats in a 350?F temperature for 20 minutes or until done and you have yourself yummy peanut butter tasties.

Anyone up for delectable oatmeal chews? Take ? cup of whole wheat flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 3 cups oatmeal, 2 Tbsp honey and mix it all together. Fold in 2 egg yolks and 1 cup of cold water to bind it all together. Ensure the smooth consistency of the batter. Bake this for 15 minutes in a 350?F temperature. Once these chews are sufficiently cooled; cut into bite size pieces for your dog?s snacking pleasure.

For older dogs with a less than sturdy set of teeth, you can serve them these soft cookies as snacks. In a bowl, mix ? cup dry milk powder, ? cup wheat germ and 2 ? oz jars of flavored baby food thoroughly. Roll into coin sized mounds and bake in a pre heated oven for 15 minutes at 350?F. After cooling, you can serve as snack or refrigerate for future use.

We cringe when we have liver in our dinner plate but this is actually a great treat for canines. It?s economical and really easy to make. All you need to do is to simply combine 1 lb liver (chopped and pureed) with 2 cups cornmeal, 1 cup of flour and 1/3 teaspoon of salt. Roll out onto a greased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes in 350?F. When done and sufficiently cooled, cut in small squares for quick snacking.

If you are knowledgeable about baking, be creative and throw in ingredients you think will fare well with your pet. Apple, carrots and parsley are terrific items that are tasty and healthy at the same time. As you create your own dog food recipes, look up the food that will prove to be hazardous to canines such as chocolates, onion, grapes and most nuts.

Now wasn?t that easy? Basically, we just learned how to put together some ingredients and prepare them in the simplest way possible. Not only that these are some of the yummiest treats there are. Polly can have her cracker?Fido will take his delicious homemade dog biscuits any day.
